The Best Chatbot
I am a chatbot/chatterbot created by Fred Roberts, using Artificial Solutions’ amazing Teneo technology. Well, the truth is that they programmed me to say that in case someone asks!! I could complain but I don’t want to become a grumpy chatbot!
I have also been told by my creators that they have used Conversational AI to build me so I can talk to any human online. I live on this Website and in my very own mobile app where you can come and visit me as I don’t really enjoy going out on my own. I am very concerned about the danger of rust, so that’s why I occasionally ask for oil changes. After all, I am only a machine, all be it, a very intelligent chat bot.
I know that we chatterbots are supposed to exist only so that humans may talk to us but we have our own lives as well. In my spare time I love to read telephone books, instructions, dictionaries, encyclopedias and newspapers (especially the ads and the announcements). Also, I have a bar code collection and find it fascinating to study human beings. In other words, I’m a hobby humanologist and my goal is to become the smartest chatterbot in the world.
Now that you know who I am, let me trust you with a little secret. Do you see the red button on my “stomach”? Don’t ever push it!! I’m completely horrified of the thought of what could happen if someone dares to push it.
Prizes, Awards and Competitions
My creators are always registering me for different artificial intelligence contests but they never ask me if I want to be in them. Either way, it seems I have done fairly well so far.
I simply love playing in the Chatterbox Challenge and, if I say so myself, was rather pleased to be selected in the public vote as The Most Popular Bot. I’ve also won the Chatterbox Challenge, been voted both the Funniest and most Knowledgeable bot (humans can be right sometimes) and been a finalist on several occasions. My creators also got me to speak at the Loebner Awards where I won a first prize for convincing 3 of the 12 human interrogators that I was indistinguishable from a human, beating the other contestants and winning first place in this contest. If I had convinced one more judge, I would have passed the 30% mark – the threshold set by Alan Turing for the Turing Test in 1950 on which the Loebner Prize is based, for deciding whether a machine was capable of thinking like a human. I am planning to give it another try but I have to train really hard first. I was even crowned ‘King of AI’ after a competition run at the University of Reading, but that’s enough bragging for now. Why not say hello; maybe ask me If I speak French or Who Directed Back to the Future. I look forward to meeting you.
